Hey all... here's an awesome program for writing music.
For those of you that don't know, a 'Tracker' is a program that lets you
write music using Sound Samples, which are recorded sounds (in wav
format).
Originally the tracker was invented on the Amiga, a program
called SoundTracker. It was revolutionary, and since, there were many
copies.. NoiseTracker, ProTracker, StarTracker, OctaMed, basically with
just better interfaces every time, and a few more effects. Eventually,
around 94 sometime the IBM world had enough tracker clones popping up
that we started to see more powerful trackers, and now we can use 32
tracks with fasttracker, and have a few new features too (I know that
there are other trackers that now do up to 256 tracks or some crap, but
my biggest mod so far only uses 28 tracks..).
Writing at first can be painful, because the interface is like nothing
else really. I recommend the best way to learn is just to get as many
mods as you can (from the net or wherever), and start ripping them
apart. Play around with stuff. Mainly, use the help guide heaps. It's a
good help manual I think.. and if you're patient & persistent there's a
shitload you can do with this beast. A lot of fun to be had.
Anyway, if have access to the web, I've got a link to fasttracker on my
website, and I've got 5 mods of mine on there as well..
http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/8070
I've actually got a shitload of mods myself, ranging from about
80k-1.5Mb each if anyone is actually interested... gimme a yell.
Enjoy. :)
Cheers.
Mike
PS. Ever since the first Tracker, they have been free! :)

Impulse Tracker is a program used to create high quality music
without the requirements of specialised, expensive equipment. The
hardware requirements should be easily met: Any IBM 386+ compatible
computer (although a 486+ is recommended), and a VGA or higher video
card. If you want to hear sound, you'll need one of the following:
þ Sound Blaster series (or most compatibles)
þ Pro Audio Spectrum
þ Windows Sound System
þ ESS ES1868 AudioDrive
þ Ensoniq SoundscapeVIVO
þ EWS64XL Soundcards
þ Gravis UltraSound
þ Interwave based board
þ Generic MPU401 for MIDI Input/Output
þ DAC on LPT1/LPT2
þ PC Speaker
Note: Win95 Users - ignore all this HIMEM and EMM386 stuff.. as long as
you don't have "noems" or "noframe" as a parameter to EMM386 in your
config.sys file, it'll work fine. If you have no idea what I'm talking
about, you can probably assume it's fine :) (unless you get "out of
memory messages")
I personally think this kicks the arse off most other trackers, as
basically it was originally an extension of `ScreamTracker' which was
also quite lusty. But yeah, give it a try, see what you think.
It allows more channels, larger samples, more elaborate special effects,
and you can turn your mod's, s3m's, it's, etc into WAV's then MP3's.
But yeah I'll upload the bug fix
VVVV [HeHe] =)

Keyboard driver. This way you can use a direct keyboard interface with
no bugs. It's a must when you use IT.

I was just wondering where abouts my seats were for, so I thought I
might as well save the piccie and upload it here. It's the seating
arrangements etc for the Entertainment Centre, for whenever anyone goes
to a concert there.
Oh, and Armand, could you please exempt this? :) :)

Subj: SMASHING PUMPKINS stuff.
Ok, The Smashing Pumpkins now have an official homepage. The
site is at...
http://www.smashingpumpkins.com
Origonal eh? There's not much there yet, just photo's from the
club tours they're doing (Taken by Billy's GF, so ignore the name it
says they're from (found this out from Listessa)), news, and tour
dates.
You can also get mp3's of their pitsburg and uhm...some other
concert from...
http://www.intratech.org/pumpkins
It's pretty cool, I've got 10 of 'em so far, and loving 'em. Check
it out. [noddings]
One more thing. Jimmy Chamberlin is back as you all know by now,
but his new haircut is quite...well...different. It's _very_ short,
and dyed blonde. Looks quite cool, actually. :) You can see it for
yourself at the above URL. I tried saving it to upload here, but
when I clicked on save, it attempted to save some silly cgi script
that called the piccies or something.

Subj: HAQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been waiting for this to happen for _AGES_!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages, I am
proud to inform you all that one of my favourite bands will be
touring towards the end of this year. Yes, that's right, you will
all FINALLY be able to marvel at the spectacle and talent that is...
GARBAGE!!!
I can't frigging wait! I still don't know when tickets go on sale,
but they start their tour in Brisbane, then go to Adelaide, Perth,
Melbourne, SYDNEY, Wollongong and finally Newcastle (I think that's
the order, not too sure, though).
The two Sydney concerts are on at the Sydney Entertainment Centre,
on the 12th and 13th of October!!!
[bops muchly so] That's all the news I have for now, if I find out
when tickets go on sale, I'll be putting it straight in here. :)

Subj: Desert island question.
Don't you hate these things.
If you were stranded on a desert island, or even, for a change of
hypothesis, whisked away in an alien spaceship, which ten CDs or records
would you take with you?
